Dr. Michelle Hure

Dr. Michelle Hure is a California native, having been born and raised into a farming family in the Central Valley. She’s lived all over the country and has finally settled in the idyllic town of San Juan Capistrano. Dr. Hure attended the University of California, Davis for undergraduate and graduate school, while working as a lecturer, anatomy instructor and medic on an ambulance. She also conducted novel research in the laboratory during her free time. She transferred her enthusiasm to her medical school studies at Ross University, where she helped to establish a charity health clinic, was hired to help teach anatomy to her fellow medical students and served multiple other leadership roles, while still graduating with high honors. Dr. Hure went on to complete her Internal Medicine internship at Yale-New Haven-affiliated Saint Mary’s Hospital. She completed her Anatomic Pathology residency, serving as Chief Resident her final year, at the University of Massachusetts. She stayed on at UMass and graduated from Dermatopathology fellowship.

Dr. Hure is double board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Pathology in both Dermatopathology and Anatomic Pathology. A Dermatopathologist receives comprehensive training in both dermatology and pathology of the skin. Dr. Hure has authored peer-reviewed articles, a book chapter and presented her research at national meetings of the American Society of Dermatopathology and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. She has lectured as faculty for national dermatology conferences and served as the Director of Pathology and sole dermatopathologist for one of the largest dermatology groups on the west coast.  Dr. Hure is also Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the University of California, Irvine.

When not working, she spends time with her young family and enjoys the amazing Southern California weather (while wearing sunscreen, of course).

Dr. Hure is also a member of the following organizations:

Happy Mother's day to EVERY kind of mom! 🥂👑💐💖

It isn't an easy journey, especially being in medicine, but it's been beautiful nonetheless. Messy, difficult yet rewarding.

Hope you have a wonderful day with family or taking some "me time" alone without the mom guilt.

Rosacea Rescue!🚨🆘️ During Rosacea awarene Rosacea Rescue!🚨🆘️

During Rosacea awareness month we’ve discussed causes and triggers and will finish out with treatment...not just what your derm can prescribe, but what you can do on your own!

🚩Knowing and avoiding your triggers is huge! Modifying your daily habits, while at times not fun, can lead to fewer flares and daily symptoms of rosacea. Avoiding those long, hot and steamy showers is a start! Applying (and reapplying) your mineral-based sunscreen every single day is also a must.

🚩Knowing what skincare is appropriate for your skin and not being overly aggressive with new or “active” ingredients are crucial to keeping your skin barrier intact and decreasing symptoms. Swipe for some of my favorites.

🚩Make sure you see your physician for prescription medications if indicated for your rosacea. While there is no definitive cure for rosacea, we can manage it through prescription topical and/or oral medications and possibly procedures like laser, IPL or microneedled neuromodulator (Botox, Dysport, etc).

What are some treatments or lifestyle changes that help your rosacea? 👇👇
Happy 108th @ucdavis Picnic Day!! 💙🐄💛 Ev Happy 108th @ucdavis Picnic Day!! 💙🐄💛

Every year my alma mater opens the campus for everyone to experience the richness and diversity of their research, teaching, service and campus life. This was the first year they've been back in person since the start of the pandemic, but they still offered online participation by starting out the morning with the traditional pancake breakfast and live stream parade!
Nothing beats being there in person though!

This year's theme: "Rediscovering Tomorrow"
I love that. We've all had the opportunity to rediscover our strengths and interests during the pandemic and can now look ahead to what the future holds for us.
Loved that the Parade Marshal was a @ucdavishealth #pathologist 🔬💕💪

Anyone been to #picnicday or have traditions you love from your alma mater?
